ACTION IN CAMEROON
The art centre for street children is a concept that is only one of its kind in Yaoundé and serve as an important stepping stone and act as a half way house, between life on the streets and reintegration into mainstream society. It’s a place where the children know they can come and go and be welcomed when they arrive. They can begin to experience what it feels like to be treated with respect, dignity and kindness and in this way become more interested in participating in the organised artistic and educational activities offered by the art centre and other fine caring Institutions. This will heal, empower and help raise their self-esteem to a sense of well being.
The Art Center
The purpose we are raising funds is:
- 1. To build the art centre to welcome the children.
- 2. To invite artists to teach and transmit their know how to the children.
- 3. For a gallery for the kids to present their work.
- 4. For a library with films, books, art & crafts.
- 5. For complete use of the internet.
